Whoa, scary! I see that not much has changed in the past 55 years, since I lived in two different substandard rental houses in Ann Arbor, MI (1970-71). Still, my friends at the U of M and I preferred independent living to paying the steep fees and abiding the restrictive regulations of the dorms.
